Mobile Service uses the Home Service plan?

Hello:

I am a current Vonage customer and considering the switch due to difference in monthly price. Does the mobile app connect to your home account and use those minutes? Can multiple phones (2 in my case) connect to the same plan and make calls? I need support for me and my wife. That is my only worry before switching over. Any issues with that? Saw some bad reviews on the iPhone app store which makes me worried.

Will appreciate an answer from your experience.

Using Ooma app, outgoing callerid is your primary Ooma number (no incoming calls at the moment) but US calls are about 2 cents a minute unless you have Premier (250 min free/month). Calls to Ooma numbers are always free (calling home for example).

This app is a great option if you travel overseas often and want to save on calling US (when there is wifi). Or you subscribe to Ooma International plan and want to dip into those minutes anywhere there is 3G or wifi.

Well, I will be getting the International calling plan for $10 a month. So, will the mobile phone call dip into my international plan to making those calls? How about US calls? Would US calls be free or will it be 2 cents a minute? Also, can I both me and my wife use the same account (not at the same time ofcourse) to make international calls...but using the home minutes?

I have not confirmed this from any official Ooma docs but from experience, if you subscribe to an international plan, US calls using mobile are included in the minutes. Other international calls would dip into your bucket of minutes as well using mobile. Both you and wife can use the app; at the same time as well.

Thanks for the reply. Will sign up most likely. Quick Qs:

1- Saw that taxes went up by a $1 or so last month. Does that happen regularly? Are old accounts locked-in?
2- Is there a way to avoid the portability fee of $40? Seems hefty! Don't really want to sign up for Premier when I dont need it.

https://go.ooma.com/tax_calculator

Looking at my area, the increase is about 55 cents per month.

If you pay taxes, there is no locking in. The yearly taxes folks are being phased in to pay monthly and the amount would be based on the above calculator.

As far as I remember, this increase is first since early 2010 (I think additional amount has to do with introduction of local city and state taxes for the most part).

If you sign up to 1 year of Premier, your porting fee would be free. That's the only way to avoid the porting fee.
