Second phone number on 2-line phone with cordless handsets

Hello -
I'm looking at adding a second phone number, running via the Hub to my multi-line phone base unit. I am not using a landline.
First question is: do I use a two way splitter on the Hub, and run one phone line to the "Line 1" and another to the "Line 2" jacks on my base unit, or do I need to do something else?
Second question: for the cordless handsets, I'm assuming I still do not need a Scout and that Line 1 and Line 2 will ring as appropriate on the handset units. Or not?
Third question: how will voicemail be handled on the Hub unit? Is this addressed via the "assign device" function? How will I know which line has voice mail when the new message light is blinking on the Hub?
Thanks for the help...
