How do I remove (unregister) a "Safety Phone" pendant?

Post by thomasm » Wed Aug 29, 2018 6:26 am

I have an old Ooma Safety Phone pendant that I want to unregister from the Telo but after trying everything I could think of I thought I'd run it past the experts here! Here is what I have tried:

1. Delete it from the My Ooma device page (it still shows up with an orange triangle and question mark)
2. Enter the "star" code on the Ooma port (*#*#193) It's in slot 3.
3. Log in to the Telo via its home ethernet port and choose DECT from the menu where all DECT devices are listed. Click on the "remove" button next to the Safety Phone. (nothing happens)
4. Press both + and - keys on the Safety Phone until it starts blinking red/blue which is supposed to cause it to register with a different Telo. It remains registered to MY Telo.

Any thoughts on this device that refuses to unregister??

Turn the Safety Phone off. Press and hold the Ooma symbol until the LED turn red and then release. Make sure it does not resume blinking.

Go the the web page in the Telo and select the DECT tab.
Delete the Safety Phone.
Delete the Safety Phone a second time.

Go to your my.ooma account.
Go to the devices tab.
Click on the Safety Phone icon and then click on delete.
Acknowledge the delete.

Thanks for the info!

Unfortunately, before I read your reply I ran out of patience and called Ooma customer support. In less than 30 seconds the safety phone was unpaired.

PS: What did you mean "press the Ooma logo". The big Ooma logo on the Telo that lights up?

The Ooma logo on the Safety phone. The button you use to answer an incoming call.

it does not matter they stopped support right after I bought mine and never notified me they would not work any longer I moved my mother in to take care of her and I drive across state lines to Pittsburgh to UPMC 68 one way and all my medical is over there. I would be gone most of the day and felt secure and was told today they have not supported them in years. I said why was I not notified I think this Companies You all know where they are from sending us their pandemics to the US and selling us items they know they are discontinued just to get their money out of what they had I am appalled no one wrote and told me I think a class action suit needs to be filed

I also had a "safety phone". It did what it was supposed to but then I decided a handset was more worthy of taking up one of the four DECT slots. I never could figure out how to get rid of the safety phone myself but like another poster stated a call to customer service got in done in seconds. So if anyone reading this is in the same situation I would suggest saving time and frustration by simply calling Ooma

Connect a computer to the Home jack.
If the computer has WiFi turn it off.
Connect to http://172.27.35.1
Click the DECT tab.
Locate the safety phone in the table and click it's Remove button.
