Want to share. After porting home phone number, disconnecting wires at outside of house, cancelling landline service then plugging telo into home wiring...phones worked with dial tone and ability to answer and call out. However the only phone that rang was the HD3 wireless used for setup. Problem solved. House phones...some very old...require a higher voltage that telo could not provide. With this in mind I began taking one of the old phones out of system. Wala...the first old phone was the culprit. Tested house number and now the remaining house phones will ring as before. Be sure to disconnect wires from landline provider to avoid harming the telo or possibly a fire hazard.....you do not need the landline connection anymore any way. Hope this was helpful info. Dean

Checked and there are devices called ring boosters than can provide more power. Most of the ones I did a quick Google search for were rather pricey, though.

Sounds easier, and cheaper, to replace the old phone.

With an traditional '2500' type phone the bell could be disconnected if the line can be heard ringing elsewhere. There are typically 4 wires on the older phone mechanical bells. Two connect to the line, the red and black, the two gray go to a capacitor. Disconnecting any one of these (and putting tape over the exposed spade terminal) will electrically disconnect the bell, allowing use of the phone. Some phones just have 2 wires from the bell, especially traditional wall phones. Just disconnect one wire.
Moving the lever underneath the phone does not electrically alter/disconnect the bell, it just makes a mechanical change.
