Changing Telo units

Post by bigdog » Sun Nov 14, 2021 7:49 am

I have an original Telo unit that I believe has died, no lights, not showing up on my network at all, etc. Power supply shows 5VDC so I assume it is the unit itself. If I was to get a new Telo 2 unit, how do I switch my account over to the new one?

Thanks,

Contact support, tell them you want to replace a dead Telo with a new one, and give them the data from the label on the bottom of the new unit. Do not activate the unit like you did the first time.

Ok that doesn't sound too complicated. Now just have to decide whether to get the white one or black one.

Do the new Telo 2 units have more clear calls? Most of the ones on my old one sounded like it was underwater or would cut out.

Cutting out is likely to be an internet problem. At one point my outbound audio was very bad. The problem turned out to be a cable modem that was randomly discarding up to 17% of the outbound packets. A new cable modem fixed that problem.

From the tests I have run my connection seems pretty good and clean. That being said my modem and router are getting old so I guess I should be replacing them sometime soon too.

The ooma calls sounded like there was an echo with it and muddled. That is why I was weighing about replacing the telo or just cancelling my account.

Greetings! I have (2) Base Stations in front of me. Is there an easy way to tell if the unit is a TELO vs TELO Air (they are both 6-button units <one WHITE, one BLACK>... the label says nothing to distinguish the two, no info on site related to model #s)?

Any help, greatly appreciated!

Try using the Telo web ui, and navigate to the "Wireless" and "Bluetooth" menus. If they indicate that the Telo can't detect a wireless or bluetooth adapter, then it's probably not a Telo Air.

Thanx @Robek, great suggestion! Both units turned out to be TELO base units... no wireless or Bluetooth.
