Bring your own Modem!?

Post by twofingerrightclick » Thu Jun 16, 2022 8:18 pm

Now that Ooma uses TMobile network, how can I register the IMEI of a usb modem so it works with the provided TMobile based SIM?... Or do I just need the correct APN config?

With the shutting down of Sprint CDMA 3G networks, my grandma received the NetStick https://www.t-mobile.com/content/dam/tf ... asheet.pdf for her Telo 4 complete with the new SIM for the T Mobile network. However the NetStick isn't working. The Telo box goes cycles between Solid Blue to blinking Red, To Solid blue on repeat, and sometimes boot loops... The Netstick's indicator light is constant green indicating average connection (except when the telo boot loops and it power cycles)... Calls can be placed when it is intermittently solid blue. I have Tmobile and have no connection issues at my Grandmas place...

The Netstick supports all the bands (B2, B4,B5,B71) for T-Mobile 4G LTE (https://www.t-mobile.com/support/covera ... le-network), and has Driverless & Host-less Support for Linux, just like a Huawei modem I have: https://consumer.huawei.com/en/routers/e3372/specs/

I will report back if I figure out what the APN is for the new Tmobile based network...

The APN for the Ooma service via the TMobile mvno SIM is:

Code: Select all

r.ispsn

But I couldn't get my Huawei to connect. So I either the PAP auth for r.ispsn requires username and password, or the IMEI of the modem needs to be registered.
The admin page on the NetStick is password protected, so I couldn't look at auth stuff... I will see if I can find a default password for it. "admin" didnt work.

And there is nothing wrong with the NetStick other than its USB port is "faulty", and that the Telo has a bug: see this post here: viewtopic.php?p=149951&sid=5461755d0ecb ... ee#p149952
