I called customer support and it works now. But this is UNREAL - she said that I had the correct serial number, but that I didn't capitalize the letters! So she changed it by capitalizing them and now it works!

Ok just to satisfy my curiousity, I went back and checked the serial number of the scout as it now exists in my.ooma.com and guess what - it's different than the one printed on the back! But the letter that is there is a capital letter.
