My mistake for the bad link, southsound posted the correct info. The link I intended was this one: http://www.ooma.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=2599#p2599

Also make sure you're plugging your phone into the PHONE port of the hub and not the WALL.

By the setup menu, everything should be working.

Did you register your ooma hub to be used WITH your landline? (integrated)? If so, you need your landline connected to the WALL port of the hub via a phone wire to the wall jack on your house. (I don't think you did this since you have a temp number from ooma, but I had to mention it)

EDIT: Can you call your ooma number?
Yes, I am turning the fader control on the right side of the hub. I have since connected the hub to my landline. I can pick up the phone and hear the regular dial tone but not the ooma dial tone.

I can call my ooma number, but I can't see what goes on with the hub when I call it. I am currently at work now. Will have to look at it when I get back.

southsound wrote:Hub factory reset sequence:

1) Remove the power for the Ooma device.
2) Hold down the Ooma tab [blue light] and connect the power. Hold for 30 seconds until all the lights start flashing.

Once the lights stop flashing, release the Ooma tab and the device will reset to factory settings.
Thanks. I have done this multiple times already and still nothing. :(

I guess this ooma is going back. Nothing is working! No light on the hub or anything!

It does sound like it's defective. Probably the easiest thing to do is just exchange where you bought it from. If you've not already done so you might call tech support and see if they have any ideas before you return it.

How your ooma hub is set up as just now? I would like to recommend to put it behind the router.

Do you have DSL? If you have DSL, you need to put a DSL filter/micro filter in front ooma's WALL port(as one needed to put in front of a regular phone before ooma is bought.) The scout is out of the picture for now till thing sorts out--ie unplug the scout.

Temporary connect a pc to ooma HOME port, go to setup.ooma.com or http://172.27.35.1:
  • on Network page, change the MODEM port MAC address to use its build in MAC, then click Update
  • on Advanced page, copy the ooma HOME port ip address onto its own DMZ (it should be 172.27.35.1) then click update. The QoS have no effect because nothing connect to the ooma's HOME port.
  • on status page, take not of the ip address of the MODEM port. this is the address of the ooma setup page when you access it within your home LAN. http://setup.ooma.com will no longer work.
  • optional: assign a static ip for you ooma hub, done in the router setting interface.
Now power cyle the whole thing: power down the modem, router, and ooma. Reconnect the modem's power first, and then the router. Last would be ooma, and reboot the pc if needed.

Make sure that the brightness control is turn up(it on the right side, the left one is volume control)
If the tab is blue, all is good. If it's red, please post the light patterns on the button, and what ever the hub says on its status+home page

Hope this will help with your problem.

Thanks to all who tried to help. I went ahead and exchanged the unit for another unit.

I am happy to report that all is well now.

Tommies: Any reason as to why I should put the hub behind the router as opposed to behind the modem? Is there any advantage to having it done that way?
