Cannot install ooma telo according to instructions

i just purchased the ooma telo. I activated it with no problem and then followed instructions to start the download process. I have talked to two different service reps to find out if we can determine if the download is really taking place just because the blue flower is blinking. When i talked to a rep yesterday i told him the blue flower had been blinking for over 8 hours without stopping. He said to plug the unit back in and just let it go until the download is complete. The unit has now blinked for at least 25-30 hours and is still blinking. My computer download speed is 1.05Mb/s and upload 1.33Mb/s and i never have upload or download problems except with this unit. How can I get someone to help me get this problem resolved? the service people on the phone have no ability I can determine to solve this problem and letting the unit blink until it stops makes no sense.

Do you have the Telo behind your router? If so try adding the IP address assigned to the Telo by the Router in the Router's DMZ field.

thanks for responding. i installed the telo using one of the ports in my linksys router which is only used as a switch to add another computer hardwired, not as a wireless router. This seems to follow their instructions for 2b install. I don't know how to do the other step you outlined. It's odd that all of ooma's ads talk about ease of installation yet there are hundreds of people on this forum alone trying to figure out workarounds to solve the installation problems.

Do you have another router that acts as a router or an integrated modem/router?
When you activated the Telo, did you select a new Ooma supplied phone number or choose to use your existing phone number?

It sounds like the Telo is not getting assigned an IP address to connect to the internet.
I don't know how you have it set up, but here is what I would do:

Turn off your modem and Telo.
Connect your Telo directly to your modem as described in the instructions for option 2A.
Turn on the Telo by plugging in the power cord.
Wait 30 seconds.
Plug in the modem.

The Telo should connect to the internet and download the latest firmware revision which takes about 20-30 minutes.

You can connect one computer to the Home Network port and then go to this page: http://setup.ooma.com
There on the Ooma Setup Home page, it will tell you that Internet and Ooma Core is connected.

I think most people who are having problems are not following or understanding the installation instructions.
