Remove the wire from the PHONE port of the telo that feeds the house. Plug your phone directly into the PHONE port, or use a Telo Handset. You may have an issue with your house wiring.

Wayne,

Removing the line to the houses wiring grid did not help either. Interesting to note here is that the buzzing has gotten a lot quieter since I tried all these fixes. The only thing that was changed permanently (something that was not just tested and returned to original status) is the phone wire replacement from the phone to the Telo. I'd like to get rid of it forever but it is a least more tolerable now. Is there something you are aware of that I could buy to shield that wire in permanently?

This keeps getting stranger and stranger. The buzz was back this afternoon. Now tonight it's gone again.

Any ideas?

You may be encountering AC or ground conducted interference.
What appliance was on in the afternoon and off in the evening?
Failing CFLs (Compact Fluorescent Lamps) are notorious noise generators.

It definately sounds like a grounding problem, like Murphy stated. It could even be coming from the Telo's power supply. Maybe you could ask one of the ooma moderators for an RMA on your power supply. They have been known to cause a hum occasionally.

What's an RMA, Wayne? And my Telo did not cause a buzz before the router was installed. Could it still be the Telo's power supply? Do they just go "bad" every once in awhile?

Actually it could be anything electrical. It could be the telos's power supply as well as the routers power supply. It could be a bad network cable from the Telo to the router or from the router to the modem.
It could be a cable slightly pulled out from any of those.
Try plugging the Telo's power supply in the power strip "backwards" (if you can). Some times the house wiring is wired backwards and the ground is on the wrong side.

I wonder... if you press the green key on the telo handset to get a dialtone, can you hear the buzz then?
If you can, unplug the power supply from the router (you will lose your internet connection of course) and see if the buzz goes away on the telo handset. If not, reset everything and try that with the modem's power supply.

I only suggested the Telo power supply replacement because it's the only variable you can remove from the picture if Ooma is willing to send you a new replacement.

There are so many things that can cause an electrical hum, you have to experiment.
Like Murphy said, is there something nearby that you have on unrelated to the network and phones that might be causing the buzz? A light? A heater? A fan?

I wish I could be more exact. This is a tough one.
