I'd do the following if your Ooma is before the router:
Modem -> Ooma -> Router
Change the Ooma setting to Use Built in INTERNET Port MAC Address (called Modem Port MAC address if older Hub hardware)
Ooma is setup to automatically spoof the MAC address of whatever is connected to the home network port (called home port if older Hub hardware). For most people, this works fine but this configuration sometimes creates throughput problems and voice quality issues.
Connect to the Ooma device setup page (
http://setup.ooma.com) from a computer connected to the “Home” or "Home Network" port of Ooma (if your router is connected to Ooma, you should get to Ooma device setup page without issues).
Click on the Internet tab (Network tab for Hub)
Click on the radio button that says "Use Built in" (INTERNET Port MAC Address or called MODEM Port MAC Address if Hub).
Click on Update Device (or just Update for Hub).
Turn off modem, Ooma, and Router.
Turn on modem and wait until it syncs with your ISP.
Turn on Ooma and wait till it completes start up.
Turn on the router.
Setup QoS (Quality of Service)
Steps:
• Measure upstream speed a few times from
http://www.speedtest.net/ at different times of the day and note the average; mark that down by 15 to 20%. Let’s say you measured average of 2 Mbps; then shaving 20% off, you get 1.6 Mbps.
• Open the Ooma setup page by browsing to
http://setup.ooma.com from a computer connected behind the "HOME" or "Home Network" port of Ooma.
• Select "Advanced" on the navigation menu and look for the "Quality of Service" section on the page. In the "Upstream Internet Speed" textbox, type in your result. Note: The units on the setup page are in kilobits per second (kbps), so you would enter 1600 for the example above (1.6 Mbps).
• After typing in the value, click on Update button to save the changes.

To allow connections to your network services from outside your home network.....
murphy wrote:Go into the setup page inside of the Ooma box.
http://setup.ooma.com or
http://172.27.35.1 if you are using OpenDNS.
On the Home Network page set the starting and ending DHCP Configuration addresses to 172.27.35.2
On the Advanced page create a port forwarding rule for your special port to forward to 172.27.35.2.
Power cycle the router so it gets a new IP address. Log into the router and verify that it got 172.27.35.2.
You should now be able to connect to your music server from the outside world.
You'd have to find out what "special port" your services/apps use.
Examples:
For my Dish Sling Adapter, the ports involved are
5101-5102 TCP & UDP.
For Rmote Desktop: TCP port 3389
You can't test this from your home network because Ooma does not support loopback.
