Ooma Mobile HD App 5.2.1 (107446) iOS Issues/Bugs

Post by Clifftr » Fri May 01, 2015 1:38 pm

Device: iPod Touch 5th generation (ME979LL/A)
OS: iOS 8.3 (12F69)

App Issues/Bugs:
* Background App Refresh for "OomaMobile" does not stay enabled after powering off device, so it has to be re-enabled each time device is powered on, and app has to be launched so that it signs in otherwise incoming calls never reach the device.
* App doesn't remain "logged in" - one sees it logging in each time the app is launched.
* Low and inconsistant volume ringing issue remains.
* Peculuar to this update is this red banned at top of my screen (see image below) that periodically shows up for no known reason, and remains until the device is powered off and turned back on - which also means re-enabling "Background App Refresh", as well as launching it ensure it signs in.

It seems to me that the creators of this app could/should look into a few other more stable and reliable apps like Hangouts, Magic Jack, and FreeTone, (just to mention a few) - looking at what makes them solid/dependable and proceed from there . . .
Would also love to have the option to use iOS ringtones, or even better - the ability to use our own customized ringtones!

Device: iPod Touch 5th generation (ME979LL/A)
OS: iOS 8.3 (12F69)
OomaMobile HD: 5.2.2 (107849)

Installed this newest update and about an hour ago, and for no apparent reason 10 or 15 minutes later the red banner appeared at the top of my home screen. Same issue with it not going away until I power off my device, then power it back on - also same issue with having to re-enable Background App Refresh because it doesn't stick after powering off, as well as having to launch the app so that it signs in or else the app doesn't ring on incoming calls. Slight improvement on the incoming ring volume, but not by much.

As far as I can tell, this update hasn't addressed any of the signifiant issues with this app being reliable for receiving incoming calls . . . VERY FRUSTRATING! :(

Just trying to bump this back up.
I have to agree. Please fix this app!!
It is unusable and useless at the moment.

Receiving calls is super sketchy.

I don't recommend relying on the app for incoming calls.

I agree 100%. Until the app is fixed to be truly synchronized with the home phone ringing and I mean ALL THE TIME then it is best only used a) to make outgoing calls with luck and b) as alert that a person has called you. You'll have their contact info so you could call them back however you wish. Summary: most if the time the app starts ringing 2 or 3 rings after home phone has rung. On 4th ring, answering machine picks up. You don't end up connecting with your party.

Maybe someday the App will work. Living with it now but always hoping....

Has this got any better for you in 5.4.1? I'm having the same issues with the incoming calls. The app does not appear to stay logged in or run with background services for incoming notifications even when it's not logged in like other apps do.

OK. Maybe it's a little better. At least I get notifications. I never hear anything.
Background App refresh still turns itself off on a phone restart.

This needs to be more reliable and we should be able to choose the ring (sounds) we want the app to use.

Keep trying Ooma.

We have a new release, pending app store approval, that should solve the issue of sometimes not receiving calls while in the background or after a reboot. Stay tuned.

Hi, Please try the new version 5.6 of the iOS app, available in the app store today. It includes several improvements:
- Better reliability of receiving calls while app is in the background
- Incoming calls now work after phone is restarted
- New error message when logging in with non-primary numbers
Please let us know if you continue to have the issues described here.

Best,
Thad
