I'm trying to picture it. You say water droplets splashed into the pump pit where the probes are but the probes were never in contact with water. You mean not at all, not even droplets, or no standing water? If a couple of droplets happen to drip right to where the probes are then because of the surface tension of water they might maintain their drop shape and trigger contact.

The entire sensor was moist to the touch due to the splashing of water from the drain tile and the very high humidity in the pit.

I also use an electronic switch to turn the pump on and off and it's developers must have encountered the same issue as it's probes are completely surrounded by a plastic shield.

Since installing my makeshift shield around the sensor the problem has not resurfaced.

P.S. It would be nice if SUMP and PUMP were added to the Telo's voice files (WAV).
