motion dectector orientation

Post by damez » Wed Jul 19, 2017 3:34 pm

Is there a preferred orientation to mount the sensor or will it work equally well mounted upside down or sideways?

I am considering mounting the sensor stand to the ceiling. This would mean when the sensor is attached to the stand, it would be upside down. Meaning the senor window is at the top rather than the bottom.

What I've found so far is that it does not appear to be very sensitive and it takes 2 minutes to reset. Also mounting high, does not seem effective at all. Most of my sensors are now mounted about 6' off the floor.

Anybody else care to share some experience?

as far as the reset time, that sounds normal i think. it will just keep looking for motion if people are walking through, coming and going. if it reset immediately, you'd potentially get slammed with multiple notifications.

i'd bed the motion sensor is directional. probably ought to find a wall to put it on.
