Home Security App requires access to Contacts - SECURITY!!!

Huge security problem here:

The Home Security App for the Android devices requires access to my Contacts database if I want to have multiple numbers or email addresses alerted on a Notification. I should be allowed to add a number or address manually through the Ooma droid app without having to grant access to my Contacts database. Otherwise this is just one more hole through an already shaky firewall scheme to protect confidential information.

What is the plan to fix this?
