Geo-Fencing

Post by RGOOMA » Tue Jan 09, 2018 8:17 am

Please add geo-fencing to the app so that the system will arm / disarm itself when you leave / return home.
Thanks!

Have a look at this link. Lots of new products and or features coming. https://www.ooma.com/blog/ooma-expanded ... -ces-2018/ The one new feature for me is the ability to go into Vacation mode.

Ooma was live just a while ago on Facebook from the CES show in Vegas. I wish I still had the link but I'm sure it is on there somewhere. Lots of neat stuff coming.

Any update on when this is coming? Strange for it to be listed on the list of features on the website but not available yet.

Just talked to sales and tech support. One is telling me that geo-fencing is no additional cost for premier phone customers. The other is saying it is a $3.99 per month cost since it is mor than the monitoring package.

Yes, it is $4.99 for basic users and $3.99 for premier subscribers. You can see all the plan differences by clicking the See Plans link on the home security home page under the No Contracts section.

Still not seeing the functionality in iOS though. Wonder if it is just not available yet or maybe Android only at this point.

existing premier customers are grandfathered in if they already have home security and don't pay the $3.99

Testing update:

Geofencing is working really good so far. I have it set to small radius which is working perfect for me. It switches modes about the point I leave and enter the subdivision. I did have one instance where it did not send me a push notification when switching to away mode, but checking the status in the app, it had switched correctly but just had a hiccup I guess with notifying me. Besides that one time, it hasn't failed.

The small radius is still fairly large, so Ooma may want to add an x-small or a custom radius option eventually, but that's nitpicking. You can always just change modes manually if you need to arm the system but are going to remain within the radius (i.e. going over to a neighbor's house).
