Ooma Siren needs variable settings!

Post by CordCutter » Thu Nov 29, 2018 12:16 pm

I suppose the good news is that there is an Ooma Siren! This part of the system is so critical that it's shocking that it's not included with the base bundles. Without it, you cannot delay the arming or disarming of the system. Without it, you have to arm the system after you leave the house to prevent a false alarm! Once the Siren is installed, arming gives you a 60 second grace period (with audible beeps) to secure and exit your home. Like an actual alarm system! It also gives you a grace period to disarm after entering your armed home. Like an actual alarm system.

I live with four other people and have house guests frequently. Without the Siren, to prevent a false alarm, I'd have to stop and check the Ooma app prior to entering the house every time! Just silly.

That being said, the durations for the grace periods should be configurable. And, there should be an option to have silent grace periods, at least after arming the system.
