The changed device name is now saved on the main screen but the old device name still appears in the log file and on push notification pop ups.

Just a guess Thomas, but I suspect the device name only gets updated on the Ooma server when it is paired and becomes part of your system. So you continue to get log messages from the server using the original name. I believe I had this problem once a long time ago and was told to unpair/re-pair to fix it. Please update us as to your results.
