The help file for the keypad says:

Assign modes: If you have set up custom Smart Security modes, you can assign each one to a number for quick mode switching using the Keypad.

How do you do this? I have several custom modes which I'd like to switch to using the keypad but I couldn't find instructions on how to do this anywhere.

I just got off the phone with a support agent who escaled to security specialist. They said that assigning modes is not supported (boo!).

I suggested they should update the support site page to remove that bullet so it doesn't give us false hope.
