Modem-Telo-Router?

Post by tcat007 » Wed Sep 18, 2024 12:18 pm

I've read it doesn't really matter if you put Telo before or after the router. Was having disconnect issues with it after, so just switched it. Time will tell. Does this effect Internet speed on 5ghz channel? I was getting 350mbps before, now I'm getting same as 2.4 channel (80mbps). Wondering if it's the Telo or my ISP.

I can manage the Telo from my phone this way, anything I should check or change?

Just switched back. Telo limits throughput to 100mbps (83 in my case). After putting Telo after router, speed are now 400mbps.

Hopefully all the rebooting will fix the lags and cut offs (it did while between modern & router).

Well, getting no ring at my end on some calls again. Have dial tone, dial number, silence. Call at other end rings, picks up, no one there (they call back and say so). Was fine with modem-Telo-Router. No good with modem-router-Telo, but must use this to get high speed Internet. Ridiculous.

Modem-Telo-Router is certainly better for the Telo, since that puts it in front of everything else. But the Telo's maximum bandwidth for its Ethernet ports is 100 Mbps, which may limit throughput for downstream devices. And when the Telo is offline, (while rebooting, for example), everything else is offline, too.

Modem-Router-Telo is generally better overall, when using high-speed internet (more than 100 Mbps). Check whether the router can enable QoS (Quality of Service) to reserve enough bandwidth for the Telo, to minimize any call quality issues when there is a lot of other network traffic or congestion.
