I tried swapping the wireless router and Ooma hub, but to no avail (couldn't get the computer online or a blue light on the Ooma hub), so I put everything back: cable modem (Motorola) -> Ooma Hub -> wireless router (NetGear).

Interesting that you bring-up the variability... When I run the Speakeasy speed test on what looks like a speedometer, I can see the download bandwith jump up and down from 3 to 10+ quite a bit.

Since I'm keeping the hub infront of the router, at least for now, I'll check-out that link. Unfortunately, I need to leave again now! Oh, my mom puts minimal demand on the internet. Just surfing, email, some downloading and uploading of photos... Also, her cordless phone is a DECT 6.0 (Uniden). As I understand it, the DECT 6.0 is desirable...
