poor sound quality with outbound calls to cel phones only

I have had Ooma for over a year now and have been very satisfied. But recently it has developed this one problem: When I call someone's cel phone, they can't understand me, the sound is full of "drop outs." I can hear them fine however. This only happens when I call out, not on inbound calls, and it only happens on calls to cel phones, not land lines. Does anyone have any suggestions, adjustments that can be made to the settings, etc.? Is it an equipment issue? It happens whether I use the Telo handset or the regular phone.

To see if your Ooma setup has changed:
First run http://speedtest.phonepower.com/ a few times, than click on left lower tab, copy and post here.

Here are the test results:

Packet loss: you --> server: 0.0 %
Packet loss: server --> you: 0.0 %
Packet discards: 0.0 %
Packets out of order: 0.0 %
Estimated MOS score: 4.0

Speed test statistics
---------------------
Download speed: 3468712 bps
Upload speed: 763424 bps
Download quality of service: 90 %
Upload quality of service: 85 %
Download test type: socket
Upload test type: socket
Maximum TCP delay: 162 ms
Average download pause: 3 ms
Minimum round trip time to server: 132 ms
Average round trip time to server: 133 ms
Estimated download bandwidth: 5120000bps
Route concurrency: 1.4760522

Maximum route speed: 3971816bps

Which I think is pretty much how it has always been. What does *98 do?

jdbakervt:

Your setup results look good.

Reboot your modem, when finished with modem reboot, reboot Ooma or router, whichever is next in line, when that is done rebooting, reboot the router or Ooma, whichever is next in line. I reboot mine each Sunday morning as a routine mantenance program.

Next MAC address spoofing can cause the problem that you discribed:

Shut off MAC Address Spoofing:
a. Access your Ooma device’s “home port” by plugging in a network cable from the Ooma device’s “Home” port to a computer’s network card port. Sometimes you have to restart your computer after installing the network cable, so that a proper connection occurs.
b. Type http://setup.ooma.com or http://172.27.35.1 in you browser address window and hit enter. The “Ooma Setup” window opens.
c. In the left hand Navigation window, select “Network”.
d. Under “Modem Port MAC Address”, select Use Built in:
e. Select the “Update button”.
f. Do a “cold boot” of the modem.
g. Do a “cold boot” of the Ooma device or Router, which ever device is next in line.
h. After the Ooma device or router cold boot, do a “cold boot” of the Ooma device or router, which ever device is next in line.
