For some reason they cannot turn off what you turned on regarding the high-bandwidth codec. Please see the beta forum regarding this.

Tom B,

I have plenty of bandwidth as my connection is 100mb/5mb with Charter. Its a cable connection. Do you suggest using this *98 codec all the time? Or just leave it alone on default? I know you can make the change. I don't want to do anything for now and value you your opinion first. Please advise. Also wanted to add. Atm I do not even use QOS as my connection is fast enough and don't need it.

Some customers experiencing latency report that using the high-bandwidth codec (thereby removing compression delay) improves their call quality, but it all depends because without adequate bandwidth pushing more data through can cause other problems, like packet loss or an increase in jitter.

Tom B,

Can you please also flip the switch on for me as well to make *98 permanent for inbound/outbound calling? If you do that for me. How will I know if its working or not when you make the change? Some where in Ooma to verify its changed and working? This would also be grand if the feature is added in the future. That way we can manually turn it on or off and not bother you.

G.711 is now enabled on your telo. Please report back what if any difference you notice. It's very easy for support to toggle this parameter.

Thanks. Do I need to reboot the Telo or anything for it to kick in?

If you go to the configuration page in the Telo and select the Status tab you will see Services. Mine shows
"High Bandwidth Codec - on"
