Call Audio Delay

Post by DEMerit » Mon Dec 12, 2016 10:43 am

Since beginning to use Ooma a few weeks ago, I've experienced significant audio delay on calls, enough to where the person on the other end and I are constantly speaking over one another and having difficulty figuring out the "timing" of our conversations.

I've read through the forums and see this is a common complaint. I've tried all the recommendations for troubleshooting and potential workarounds I've come across, but to no avail. There is one subject that keeps popping up that I don't seem to have control over: Which server does my Ooma connect to and is it the "ideal" server for me to minimize any such audio delay on calls? It seems only Tom B. from Ooma can check and/or correct this?

Tom B.: If you read this, can you please check to see if my telo in Michigan is being routed to the "best" server and correct if necessary? Thank you.

Tom B.: Thanks. However, now I get busy-tone when I take my receiver off hook. Do I need to restart telo for the changes to take hold?

Tom B.: Thanks. One more question...Once my old phone numbers are ported to my Ooma account, will my telo need to be re-homed again? Or, is that setting independent of the phone numbers and instead a core config of the telo device itself?

Hey Tom B.,

I'm in Toronto, Canada. Any chance you could move me to the East coast server?

Thanks!

Hi Tom B.,

Would you be able to let me know if my line has been moved to the east coast server? If it hasn't, would you be able to move it?

Thanks

Tom B.: My phone number port was completed yesterday. After that (and a couple reboots of the telo) my Mean Jitter and XC Latency numbers on the telo seem noticeably higher than they've been since you rehomed my telo.

Can you please double-check that I didn't somehow get moved back to the old server and that I'm still on the (theoretically) optimal server for Michigan? Thanks.
