Answering Delay with DECT 6.0

When I call home (to the home Ooma Telo), my wife answers and she needs to say "hello" twice before I can hear her voice... (i.e. the first 1 second is lost). I unplugged the wireless phone basestation from the wall, and plugged in an old "wired" phone. the delayed answer was eliminated.
Is there a solution? this hints at my wireless phone being the issue, but what would I replace it with?

- Connection: Cable Modem => Router => Ooma Telo => house wiring => Dect 6.0 wireless phone
- Ooma Telo
- Phone: Panasonic Dect 6.0 plus kx-tg7531
- Internet speed: 80 Mbps down, 6 Mbps up.
