does my level of roadrunner service matter

Post by skowbuzz » Sat Feb 07, 2009 2:14 pm

i have the cheapest level of roadrunner 19.95 which has up to 768kps. does the call quality improve with a better package from time warner. we rarely upload anything. quality is ok for the most part but gets static from time to time on my dect 6.0 phone. i don't run anything on my wall jacks but just from the ooma hub only.

Is that your upload or download speed? They both matter.

768kps download and up to 384 upload. My laptop is wireless and is only showing around 120 kps with the tests. I am sure it would be higher if i had laptop hooked up directly to router, but i use wireless router

The default upload QOS setting in the ooma hub is 384. If your wireless connection is limiting the actual to 120, that may be a problem. Can you turn off the wireless on the laptop and connect it direct with a LAN cable to see if that improves your audio?

I was not aware that any cable company was still selling that low of a speed connection.
