Caller ID shows phone number not name starting Sep 11
Just yesterday (Sep 11, 2019), my Ooma started showing the incoming phone number instead of the caller ID name for incoming calls.
On Sept 11th after 2:00 pm (Central US time) I received just one name in the caller ID. Everything else is the numbers. From the Ooma dashboard, I can see a call from a Boston number with the caller ID name on Sept 7, 2019. The same number called Sep 11th and I just get the digits of the phone number.
All of this is from the Ooma call logs, so it has nothing to do with my handset.
This morning, I unplugged the Ooma for more than 15 seconds and restarted. This did not fix the problem.

Do you have Premier service? That is required to get Caller ID name. I think any number in your contact list will display the name since they don't have to pay to get the name in that case.
In case you don't know how it works, the name is not sent with the call. The receiving phone company has to look it up in a database. If they don't have their own database the have to pay someone else to use their database.

I have premier access. This has worked fine for well over a year.
Also, none of the calls are from those in my contact list.

And just like that, the caller ID seems to be working again today. So 2-3 days of not working and then restored.

It looks like it still is not working. I received a call today that had just the number and "Unavailable" for the name. I have the Premier service too so that should not be happening.

If the call is from a spam number and the number is not in the CID database, that is what you will get.
