Cancelling service
I tried to cancel my ooma service via chat but they referred me to a phone number that has a recording that says they do not accept calls from blocked numbers. I'm not sure why but it is making it impossible to cancel it.
Re: Cancelling service
Ooma needs to make sure that the person trying to cancel the service is the account owner, and not some random stranger, which probably rules out canceling by live chat, or by anonymous phone call. They may also want to limit which departments can cancel services, and not outsource that to third-party contractors.
If contacting Ooma by telephone is too difficult, then other options, such as email or snail mail, may be easier. For more information about how to terminate services, re-read Ooma's terms and conditions.

Re: Cancelling service
I’m not sure why it gave me that message as I was calling to cancel it FROM my Ooma phone number with the CallerID blocking disabled.
Re: Cancelling service
That would have been worth mentioning in the first post. If the problem persists, then try calling from a different number.bigdog wrote:... I was calling to cancel it FROM my Ooma phone number with the CallerID blocking disabled.

Re: Cancelling service! very dishonest.
This is by far the most dishonest Company out there. I've been with them less than a Month, and they have charged me 5 times already.
I finally got fed up and decided to cancelled once more. I spoke to a representative who was refusing to cancelled and kept making all kinds of promises. I said please cancelled. She put me on hold for 30 minutes then hung up on me. I then called them right away, and explained to the new representative, that I was on hold and then disconnected only because I wanted to cancelled. She insisted again that I don't cancelled. Made me a lot of promises to get me to stay. I said please just cancel the account and please don't hung up on me. she said what is your phone number in case we get disconnected? after being on hold again for a while, I get disconnected again, but then received a called a minute or two after. She called me from 415-466-2069 and provided me with a cancellation number. I said please email me the cancellation also. She said it's coming your way shortly. I waited a few minutes and contact Ooma by email asking for a cancellation email with the cancelation number the Agent provided me. However I get an email saying the Cancellation number provided by the Agent is fake and that they will charge me a cancellation fees because they put on a contract. Run away they will charge you like that have nothing else to do, and lie about everything. I never even used the account.
you think you will safe money switching company? WRONG! RUN!

Re: Cancelling service
It would take a lot more than that to be "by far the most dishonest company out there". Exaggerating about whatever happened just makes it more difficult to sort out the facts. Omitting key details about the actual equipment, services, subscriptions, or charges doesn't help either.
The 'My Ooma' web portal offers a detailed, itemized billing history. What, specifically, did Ooma claim that the five charges in less than a month were for? If they made any charges in error, then be sure to promptly notify their billing department about which charges are in dispute.
Some customers who canceled their service have reported that it was a fairly smooth, painless process, while others have reported nothing but problems. And some just complained that they had to call Ooma at all, or had to repeatedly decline different counteroffers for several minutes before canceling.

I have called 5 times today to try to cancel the service, but I am going through an endless loop of promotions. The online guy is asking me to call the OOMA number, but I literally cannot hold of an human being.
