Not able hear caller when getting call though Google Voice

Hi there,

I have been a long time Ooma user w/ no issues so far. I noticed about a month ago that I am not able to hear the caller when I initiate and connect a call through Google Voice to my Ooma number. I have not changed any of my settings since I have set up Ooma.

This can be easily reproduced using the following steps;

1. Place a call from GV and connect to your Ooma number (this is my home number in my case)
2. Home phone rings OK, pick up the call and start talking.
3. On the other end (my cell) I can hear myself talking but on my Ooma phone I can hear the other side

Appreciate any help you may have.

Thanks.

This set of conditions doesn't rule out an issue with Google Voice. Does it work any differently in the opposite direction? Try calling your home number from Google Voice and delivering the call to your cell. You should also try calling an echo test number with Google Voice and directly to see if that works correctly with your home phone both with and without GV delivering the call. (Search the forum for "echo test." Someone posted one a while back. The only ones I know of require a SIP gateway. :) )

This is a known problem with Ooma. There are multiple tickets that have been opened on this issue.

The problem is a carrier connect issue. Ooma will need to fix this, there isn't anything an end user can do.

The problem is not your ISP, it is not QoS, it is not your Router, it is not Google's fault.

Ooma has fixed this before, but the problem has recently returned.

If you talk to tech here are past numbers to refer to CS-67744,
