I have a Panasonic wireless phone with a built-in answering machine. After someone leaves a message or if they hang-up without leaving a message after the answering machine kicks on I hear a dial tone for 2-3 seconds which is pretty loud and annoying.

Anything I can do to stop this from happening?

You could turn your Panasonic cordless phone voicemail audio volume down.

I use the Ooma voicemail. I set my Panasonic cordless phone base voicemail "Answer On" switch to off.
