Using Hub & Telo calling 1-800-444-4444, I consistently get 7862793705

Just tried using another VoIP service (same carrier as my Ooma carrier, XO), I get results all over the place.

Examples:

3124709921
9727290000
7068050745
5032050901
2125470000

this is a good thing, not a bad thing.. it helps you to make anonymous calls that can not easily be traced back to you...

the ANAC number that you are dialing will read back your ooma number if you call with your caller ID unblocked... try *82 1-800-444-4444 and it should read back your ANI properly, if you call with *67-1-800-444-4444 then it will give you that fake ANI..

google voice has a similar "feature"

i would not complain about this as some users such as myself feel that this is a benefit and a good feature to prevent people from obtaining our phone numbers with ANI traps...

nyphonejacks, when you dial the 800 444 4444 number, does that system recognize your real Ooma number?

Hmmmmmmmm!! This thread may be related to mystery we've been experiencing with our Ooma service.

Following this thread, I also dialed 1-800-444-4444 (MCI's automatic number identification circuit) and again also was told I was calling from 786-279-3705.

To the mystery: My wife is an avid fan of "Dancing with the Stars". She has never been able to successfully vote via telephone using our Ooma service. She always gets a message similar to: "all of the votes have already been used for that telephone number". So, her trusty cell phone backup gets called into service to vote for Dancing with the Stars.

We've had the OOMA Telo device installed for about a year now. Call quality and the reliability of service have been excellent.

We chose to install the OOMA Telo device "between our Internet Service modem and our Router for our LAN (local area network). This is the installation approach recommended by OOMA because it allows the OOMA Telo device to priortize packets for VOIP (voice over IP) at a higher level than other LAN traffic when necessary to maintain call quality. We do a lot of streaming of TV content (Netflix) as well as other high-bandwidth activities but because the OOMA Telo device can prioritize the traffic we haven't experienced any poor call quality in spite of our other high-bandwidth consuming activities.

We ported two telephone numbers to OOMA and thus have purchased the premium OOMA service. There are several calling features available which let you manage how incoming calls will be handled. For example, you can do the standard types of call forwarding but an interesting OOMA twist allows you to configure simultaneous ringing on more than one telephone. For example, I have one of our two telephone numbers configured to simultaneously ring at home and on my cell phone. This is very convenient for a small business, for example.

Previously it cost us about $80 per month for the two phone numbers from a local cable company. With OOMA and its premium service its about $12 per month. So our payback for the OOMA equipment purchase, including the OOMA handset, was about five months.

I highly recommend the OOMA service not only because of the cost savings but because of the features and quality of service as well.
First year: Modem-->OomaTelo-->Router
Now: Modem-->Router-->OomaTelo

I just got a replacement credit card in the mail, and I was asked to call their toll-free number from my home phone number to verify the card. Ooma sent 786-279-3305 for the ANI instead of my home phone number. I got lots of grief from the credit card company because they insisted that I was not calling from home.

Thanks, Ooma.

I'm having the same issue with American Express. Whenever I call them, they get the 786 area code # instead of my actual #. Since this doesn't happen with true landlines and cell phones, it seems like it'd be something on Ooma's end.
