I checked into this -- ooma does NOT block American idol votes or any toll-free number - which person were you voting for and at approx. what time did you make a call (if you don't want to post on the forum, you can email it to me...)? I can try to check how your call completed. The American idol numbers are listed below:

5703,5708,5704. I was calling between 10:00 and 11:30. I tried other numbers also. My wife got through every time on her cell. Support called me back this morning and they are going to try also. I will give an update after next tuesday if I can get through.

Thanks Bobby for clearing that up. It's nice to know I can vote for my favorite American Idol with ooma.

Tried again- could not get through. I could only get through on my cell. Anybody else have any luck?

I tried it last night, no problem. I gave Adam Lambert a few votes.
It was busy at first, but soon got through several times.

Interesting. There will be no way to prove it on my end. All I can say is there are about 20 calls from Ooma all logged- all busy. Cell phone got through 9 times out of ten. I wonder if it is the way its routed vs cell. I live in Washington state if that matters. Maybe I should have paid my phone bill and got long distance also!!

My wife called on the Ooma about 5 times and then got through then tries 6-10, nothing but a busy signal. So she jumped on the cell and started texting....I swear my wife acts as if she is 13.

Here's the deal on American Idol. We have a set number of trunks set aside to make toll-free calls. We allocate capacity based on subscriber levels and peak usage patterns under normal circumstances. Unfortunately during American Idol, calling patterns go ballistic as people make hundreds, even thousands of attempts. So the busies you get can be traced back to all the other ooma/Idol fans out there.

That's too funny... Where there's a will there's a way and my wife will make certain her vote counts (if not multiple times) for American Idol any way she can.

Thanks for the investigation Dennis. I know not all answers are instant, but Ooma does try to find out the correct answers. I like that it is explained like it is and not some round about answer on what ooma thinks we want to hear. Keep up the good work!
