New HD3 handsets, getting intermittent battery low indicator

Post by Falc0n » Mon May 07, 2018 9:28 pm

Brand new 3x HD3s. Had trouble getting them to power up at first and followed Support page regarding pulling the batteries and re-installing. This did eventually work, though this seems a bit sketchy to me to have to do (multiple times) after spending $150 on handsets. Never had this issue with Panasonic units.
Primary reason for this post: I see the battery charge indicator periodically switching between a battery low to battery full status. Putting the handset(s) back on the charging base it tells me the battery is at 100%. ?? Note, all units had been charged overnight. I doubt there are issues on multiple batteries, and this is more than likely software related. Or is this normally how the batteries work on these handsets?

Also, Ooma, how about updating your support pages/manuals for HD3s? Most only indicate the HD2, which, physically at least, is quite different than the HD3.

I'm also seeing this issue with brand new handset, still in the first 10 days of usage. Also by removing/adding the batteries back I get to 100% charge indication. I wonder if I have bad OEM batteries or the contacts are poor?

I have noticed the same thing about removing the batteries sending the charge indicator back to 100%. I don't think it's a battery issue. Could be the contacts or it could be the sensor itself. I will say that after a day or so of the charge toggling back and forth between 50% and 100% and removing/reinsertng the batteries several times, the charge has stayed at 100% for 4 or 5 days now. I have used the handset a few times but have not had any long conversations on it.
