Inofo-santé 811 call with info-excavation answering

Hi, I’m a user of Ooma in Sherbrooke (Québec) Canada. I called 811, which is info-santé’s phone number, and by a weird glitch, it’s info-excavation that answered; I think their number is 211. What’s going on? What would it be if I call 911?

Ooma's website describes service for 411, 711, and 911, but doesn't mention 811.

It's not that weird of a glitch, though. In Canada, 811 is for "non-emergency health information and services" (info-santé), but in the U.S., it is for "underground public utility location" (info-excavation).

I'm based in Prince Edward Island, and when I tried, it called to 811 Nova Scotia. When I tried the Ooma online chat support, they suggested it I needed a Prepaid Balance for Premium Calling Services, but couldn't provide documentation where 811 needed this (only that 411 did). That doesn't make sense to me since it's obvious the call connects to Telehealth NS which is also 811. It's just connecting to the wrong Provincial Telehealth. I'm wondering if this is a coding issue at their end, due to PEI and NS sharing area codes.

Canada uses a phone number's area code and prefix, (the next three digits after the area code, also called the Central Office (CO) code), to determine which service area it belongs to.

If the location that 811 resolves to does not match the phone number's assigned service area, then contact Ooma support.
