No lights

Post by bigdog » Fri Nov 12, 2021 3:58 pm

I noticed there are no lights on my Ooma today. I tried unplugging it and plugging it back in (essentially restarting it) and still appears to be offline.

I tested the power supply and it is outputting 5VDC so I know that is working

Any ideas

One of the buttons on the Telo controls the light intensity. It varies from off to maximum.

It is not just no lights on the display, even the LEDs in the network port are off. Now I'm thinking either the unit is dead or really locked up. Disconnected power for a few hours and it still didn't restart.

Try a different power supply. It may provide 5 volts when unloaded but drop in voltage when a load is applied.

If you have a 5 ohm 5 watt resistor connect it across the power supply plug and then measure the voltage under load.
A 5 ohm resistor will put a 1 ampere load on the supply.

I guess I can try that. It seems like the Telo unit itself is dead or bricked. It is the original one so pretty old
