While I know that my ooma line offers free calling within the U.S., there are times when I would like to use my local line anyway.
Any way to just switch temporarily to the old dial tone?

After integrating a landline, you can choose which phone number is used for outgoing calls by the phone number star code prefixes [see Preferences->Phone Numbers in the ooma Lounge]. Your landline would only be used for outgoing local calls.
Is it possible to integrate the regular landline with ooma such that calls to this landline phone number will ring all my phones and if not answered, ooma's Broadband Answering Machine jumps in and takes a message-- without leaving call forwarding on that landline number?
(I have a computer server at the ooma location that I log into remotely-- and when I'm away and logging in, that computer is unattended and for when that computer hangs I'm trying to configure a remote power switch that via remote control can reboot the cable modem, routers, and server computer, etc. One independent way to invoke a reboot on a hung server is via phone line (but not a VOiP phone line because that's a link in the same chain you're trying to fix.) A phone call to my traditional land line could be received by this remote power switch, but not if call forwarding is set all the time...)
SInce I like the phone number I have on the traditional phone line and it is familiar to my friends and family, I suppose I could port that number to ooma and make it my "main" ooma number and get a new plain jane traditional land line (with no costly extra features from the phone company, such as caller id, etc.) that is used just for emergencies, 911, and the occasional incoming remote rebooting call, etc.
Good one. Try picking up the phone...you're killing me Larry.ooma wrote:I am looking to be able to receive calls if somebody calling my land line.
Aw hell, why didn't you just say so then. This is easy. Call customer service and they will set your account up properly.ooma wrote:You are so smart, my question was to pickup the land line using second line button on the ooma adapter.
