Caller hears 4 rings before My phone starts to ring

Called my phone from my cell. I could hear the phone ring on my cell handset 4 times before the home phone actually rang.

When listening on my cell, I can hear the home phone ring for example 8 times, but the actual phone at home only rings 4 times, and sometimes the handset rings and sometimes it does not...only the base unit rings consistently but still only after four rings heard by the incoming caller and still only at half the ratre heard by the incoming caller.

Does this make sense?

Nevermind....after unplugging the landline, phone, the issue went away
