Can you still receive Voicemail if OOMA system is OFF

When leaving the house for an extended time frame, I would like to turn OFF my modem/router/OOMA. I tested the availability of voicemail when the system is OFF by calling the OOMA will my cell. I did not hear any rings or greeting. The cell just disconnected the call. I assume that voicemail was something that was kept by OOMA servers and not local to my hub at home. I'm I correct? If so, shouldn't my call be directed to voicemail regardless if my OOMA hub is On or Off? I might be missing a setting somewhere. Thanks.

You are right. When your ooma is off your voicemail will still be saved as normal. Voicemail is on the ooma servers, not on your ooma box.
I'm going to guess that you have your cell set up to receive calls forwarded from ooma. If you do, this is why you hear nothing when calling your ooma number. This is an issue already reported. Try using a different phone and number not associated with your ooma system to test.

Wait at least 5 minutes after you turn your system off before you make your test calls. It can take that long for the Ooma servers to discover that your equipment is no longer available.

It took 3 days before I was able to receive voicemail to my Ooma account after powering OFF the Ooma hub. Granted the Ooma was not powered down the whole 3 days. I guess I should have said it took 3 days for everything to get running correctly on Ooma's end. Now I can receive voicemails when the Ooma is OFF. I even got the calls to be forwarded to my cell. Thanks.
