Home Security : Garage Door Sensor request
I have the Home Security system with a garage door sensor; everything is working great. One feature I don't find that would be useful, is to have the system generate an alert when the Garage Door sensor indicates the door is (still) open at a certain time or event ... such as when the system transitions from Home to Night. Maybe every x minutes after that until closed or transition back to Home occurs.
Re: Home Security : Garage Door Sensor request
This is a great idea. I have the garage door sensor and it works great as well, but I would like to know if I forgot to close my garage door at night. For example if my garage door is open at 11pm, send me an alert so I can close it!
Re: Home Security : Garage Door Sensor request
Wanting to bump this after leaving my garage door open accidentally last night.
I don't always arm the system for sleep every evening. Can one set an alert that if garage is open after 11pm??
Who else would like this feature?

Yes, I am looking for the exact same thing. Is there a way to get an alert if the garage door is open when the system transitions from home to night for instance? In Ooma's add for the security system they say:
Get notified through the base station speaker or mobile app when an event does or doesn’t occur, like when your child misses curfew.
So can't this apply when the garage door doesn't close? I have no idea how to do either of these things.

Re: Home Security : Garage Door Sensor request
There is a difference between an event, which describes something that happened, (such as: "door opened", "door closed"), and a state, which describes a condition at some point in time, (such as: "door is open", "door is closed"). The security system currently only sends notifications for events, not for states.
The modes ("Home", "Away", "Night", etc.), are configurable profiles. The security system uses the currently active mode to determine which sensors are active, and how to handle their events. Transitioning from one mode to another later on won't cause the security system to revisit past events.
Getting notified when an event doesn't occur means that if the garage door opened, but didn't close within a given time frame, then the security system can send a notification that the door is still open; use the mobile app to specify how long to wait for the door to close, before sending a notification.
