Disable Call Waiting Feature, Not the Call Waiting Tone!!!

Post by leewiz » Sat May 03, 2014 5:45 am

I need my OOMA Number to receive ONE CALL AT A TIME, without the call waiting feature. I'm using this OOMA Number to take business calls, and it does not look good for another call comes in, and I was forced to decline the second call.

Does any one know how I can disable this call waiting feature with my OOMA number? Not the call waiting tone, but completely diable the call waiting feature and give me a busy tone!!

Some forum mentioned about dialing *70 followed by my OOMA number - I tried but it didn't work on the OOMA number - it just disable the call waiting tone but not the call waiting feature...

It appears that some other providers are able to do so.

Ooma does not support Busy tone for inbound calls. The assumption is that people do not wish to miss calls, so calls coming in on the 2nd line are sent to voicemail when not answered.

Your config shows you have disabled the call waiting tone, but I understand from your post this is not sufficient. Please explain why. The only other option is to send 2nd line calls immediately to voicemail without the telo showing any indication the call is coming in, but this would be a custom config. You can accomplish the same by simply enabling 'do not disturb' each time you're on an important business call.

I know one reason being when work calls, busy signal would divert the call to next fellow rep.

Yes, that feature is on the roadmap for Ooma Office.

It's just the work requirement that the second phone call should hear the busy tone only, no voicemail, no call waiting, no other features. How difficult is it to change the second call to the busy tone from the regular tone?

See my earlier post. Ooma does not support Busy tone for inbound calls.

Sammy5358, yes that is still the case. There's an enhancement bug open on this but no ETA.

In another thread it mentions, "Ask support to disable 'Allow 2nd inbound call' in the Customer Config" -- what exactly does that do? It sounds like it would disable call waiting to me.

Doing that is same as enabling do-no-disturb every time you're on a call, so any call coming in at that time goes to voicemail immediately.
