People with the totally free service will never hear the ooma ad. The people who pay for message screening are the ones that hear it. And we all pay $250.00 for the equipment so nothing is totally free. What irritates me is that the reason I paid for message screening was to avoid the telemarketers and then being forced to listen to ooma's message after every screened call.

Wilsonium wrote:I agree... this is very undesirable behavior and should be removed for people paying for premium service. Like the metal plate car dealers put on your new car AND the stupid ads you are forced to watch before a movie at the theaters... we pay for the service... we shouldn't be giving ooma free advertising. Just my $.02

Not quite the same as the car dealer's name on the car. More like the Lexus insignia that some people pay extra for to have it in gold plate instead of chrome. Or like the designer shirts with the little polo player or the ones with the big Aeropostale on them. Or buy a nice pair of Rockport shoes and darned of the things don't have a Rockport label. Anyone try to buy a Nike shirt without the logo?

Just yesterday I overheard someone say, "I'm never going to call southsound because he might not be there and I REFUSE to leave a message on his machine because it said ooma as part of the message after I should have hung up. How tacky!"

Sorry, but in a world that has so many real problems, can't we just have a little grace for ooma until they make a way to disable it? Are we forgetting that all in all it is a really wonderful device that saves a lot of us tons of money?

I agree with southsound ooma is great and keeps getting better. I'm sure they will get all the little quirks ironed out.

Agreed, but we need to state the case and make the request for it to happen.

I am using message screening and I have never heard this message. Could it be related to something else? Maybe it only happens when people are calling from another VOIP service to let them know they have options? Longshot theory there.

I know I've heard it, I'm just not sure when it's played.

Just an FYI, I also remember hearing virtually the same message when using Verizon voicemail except it was "Thank you for using the Verizon voicemail system" or something like that.

I suspect that you can't turn off Verizon's message either.

It's not the caller that hears the message, you hear the message on your ooma box while your screening the call.

Well said, Southsound, as always.

Understood, but the community needs to also show patience when people raise issues. If we continue to hammer on people for raising unpopular issues, they will stop being raised, and when they stop being raised is when people start getting unhappy and leave. I haven't seen a single post in this thread from someone that is not tolerant or patient regarding the issue, have you?
