Not only are GV VM transcriptions free, but they are sometimes pretty humorous. Free comedy! :D

Voicemail transcription is part of GV, not GVE, so if the message goes to your GV number, you will get free (if rather poor) transcription.

What I would like:

1 - Outgoing calls have my GV Caller ID without any extra buttonpresses

2 - Incoming calls directly to my Ooma number (any calls not through GV) get transferred to my GV number with the original Caller ID intact (allows callers who know to call whichever number is local to them, and GV features for all). This could be tricky to implement without breaking several Premier features that are based on which number the caller used.

3 - Hub voicemail (Broadband Answering Machine) accesses my GV voicemail, especially with a working message-waiting indicator.

MWPollard wrote:Since all features and content are probably kept on the server, it probably only requires the Ooma server provide the Google content instead of Ooma-sourced content. It's little different than changing the destination address of a hyperlink. You still click the same link, but it goes someplace different. The Hub still requests "Play messages", but the Ooma server sends Google content instead of its own. (I was going to provide a more detailed example, based on my experience as a programmer, but that would be overkill.)
You are correct that i did not work on the project. How ever i do have a cisco router in front of my telo and using the monitor session command and with wireshark running on my pc I am able to monitor all traffic coming from the telo. Before you enable GVE and if your not playing messages from ooma's voice mail if you press the >> button on the telo it does not send any data at all. if you enable GVE and preform the same button press it does transmit data to there server and plays your google voice mail messages. This would tell me that there is indeed a telo firmware change in place.

I have not looked into what occurs when you get a call through google voice mail when you have GVE in place and the server does a auto-answer so you can hear the person leaving voice mail this may or may not require a firmware update but i'm guessing, (and i to have programmed in the past myself) that there would need to be a change on the telo for this to work correctly. I'll freely admit sense i have not checked into this that i could be mistaken.

I bought Ooma hub and Premier mainly because of "coming" Google Voice Extensions and dream softphone feature.

Giving the GVE is not available to OOMA hub yet, I am wondering if I could have my outgoing OOMA calls with my GV Caller ID?

How do you folks take advantage of Google Voice with existing Ooma hub?

 :?:

Never buy a product based on future features! I have 3 ReplayTV's (now retired) that are still waiting for the massive feature update that will be availble in Spring 2003.

I have two posts on page 10 of this thread that will answer your questions:

One post is at the top of the page, one at the bottom.

I'm a little slow, but I don't get what the big deal is with GVE on the Ooma is? I use GV and it's features including making calls with my GV number as CID. Ooma just for the front end. If you want magic Google-Android phones are due out in a few months. Now theres where the features will be.

I don't quite get the LOL - the message transcription seems fine to me. In fact, it is a lot more easily understood than some teens I know and even most of the text messages I receive. :P
