The cooling pad isn't quite deep enough for Hub's footprint but it works.

Ahh... so maybe that is why we have a USB port on the back of our hub? That would seem to be way too convenient.

Hub's USB is non functional. Not even juice.
Telo's, you can get juice.
I had to plug my cooling pad into an AC outlet.

allo, no part of my Hub should be over 80 degrees; the pad should be keeping it coooool as a bean.

BTW, when did you drop by to do a readout? :D

If this is real, can you do some thermorgraphy on a Telo please?

The highest temperature on the top of my Telo is 100 degrees F located between the volume button and the brightness button.

Thanks Murphy. Do you run a cooling fan underneath?

I doubt it stays at 80 even with the pad... Warm air doesn't have an escape route/vents at the top!

Touch the underbelly of the hub ( around Speaker location)...Touch it with hand: if it feels any warmth at all, it is above 98*... if it feels cool to the touch, then it is below 98*.

Wondering if anybody ever removed/opened the top of the hub... not during the warranty period of course!

No, it's sitting on top of a steel computer case that's at 92 degrees F. Room temperature is currently 79 degrees F.
Those are not high temperatures for electronics. A core duo cpu can go to a junction temperature of 100 degrees C (212 degrees F) and still operate without shutting down.

My core 2 Quad processor is idling at 59 degrees C (138 degrees F).

I understand. I’m not home, so I cannot view my box, however as I recall I saw no cooling vents on OOMA. My original thought was that the inside must be pretty warm, the downside being potential shortened life for components less tolerant of heat like caps etc. I have not torn one apart but the PS is external, so I can’t be too concerned.

I was not thinking in terms of a few months, I was thinking longer term of years. I am an advocate for cooling as much as possible, especially when I do not know what is inside. I see the use of fans and other gadgets recommended in the forum. I am sure they have no cooling capability with a closed box.

I can see you have adopted an alternate approach of ambient heating and obviously have no deleterious consequences.... thanks
