Porting Status "Tab" blank

Post by secondment » Tue Jul 29, 2014 3:49 am

I like the new "Porting Tab", but it is blank even though it has been 18+ hours since I did the request. From the update when Ooma discusses this new feature it is supposed to be almost instantaneous...so much for the new feature.

Anyone have any additional information?

Mine has been blank for 2 days. Prior to that I had the message "ACTION REQUIRED: Your porting request requires special handling. Please call 888-711-6662”. So I did and was told not to worry and gave me a date. That day came and went, so I called again. They said not to worry and the date was only an estimate. Now I beginning to worry that I've made a mistake going with Ooma.

It could take up to 4 weeks to port your number. Just wait.

It's only been 3 days for me, so not expecting anything yet, althought it would be nice to see confirmation that the porting request has got into the system. (I did get the email confirmation)

This is what you get if you click the :?: on the porting page:

The porting status page gives you a progress snapshot of your number port throughout the porting process. It typically takes phone companies 3-4 weeks to complete a number transfer request from Ooma. There are 5 key steps during the porting process:
Order received - When your porting order is added in My Ooma
Information verified - After the Ooma porting team receives your Letter of Authorization (LOA) and any additional documentation, a porting specialist will verify your porting documentation usually within 5 business days. Depending on the number you're porting, you may receive an e-mail with instructions to send a signed copy of the LOA and a copy of your phone bill.
Port initiated - After your port has been submitted to the carrier, Ooma will provide you an estimated date of completion. Please note that this date is SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
Port scheduled for completion - After about 10 business days, your phone company will schedule and confirm the date of transfer.
Port completed - Your port has completed!
