Community Blacklist block my bank's 2-step security call

Post by EdF » Tue Oct 18, 2016 5:59 pm

Not sure if this is the only number they use for the automated 2-STEP code phone call but it seems to be blocked because as soon as I uncheck "COMMUNITY BLACKLIST" their call comes through. It is possible they use multiple numbers.

They are probably using that same number for their telemarketing calls. That would easily get it blocked.

Interesting thread, and after fully reading it I feel it should NOT be listed as a spam call since it is obviously legit. While it might be (ALLEGEDLY) somewhat abused it still is what calls me and I am sure many others to allow access to our WF accounts whenever I request a 2-Step verification code by landline to access my account. Numbers like that should not be blacklisted because they PREVENT some legitimate business in many/most cases.

If enough people add the number to their personal blacklist it will end up on the community blacklist. The bank should not be making important calls from the same number that they use for telemarketing.

I disagree with your assessment. IMO if the number is legit even 1/10 of the time it shouldn't be blocked. Only numbers that are 100% known to be spam should be blocked. Of course your opinion may vary ..... but you know what "they" say about opinions. :D

What if someone spoofs the local PD or FD phone number for 2 weeks for the purpose of scam calls and it gets added to CBL ? That would be no different.

Just to update this thread it seems the number in question was removed from the CBL because calls are now being properly passed through.
