Post by gotojanoo » Sun Aug 12, 2018 11:12 am

Hi fello ooma peeps,
I need your advise please.
Here is my concern.
After using 10 years of service with free hub and now telo , I think I wanna move my number to OBI where I can use really cheap international. I wanna to give this telo to my bro and I wanna port out this current numberto OBI.
My question is if i give this free grandfathered telo to my brother , will he be able to use it for free?
ALso how number port will work? FIrst If i port number how can I give new number to my bro ? Any process if you know please.
Thanks.

When you say move to Obi, I assume you mean Google Voice using the Obi box. I believe that Google Voice does not port numbers from VOIP providers. What you can do is transfer the number to a cheap cell phone, e.g. Tracfone, and then port the cell number to Google.

I don't know if the grandfathered Ooma Telo will still be tax free if transferred to a new owner. If you call Ooma, you should be able to get a new number for your bro.
