Porting - average time?
Mine ported today as well. Also no loss of service just like runagun said. I also received an email that I should contact my local carrier to cancel my account. Others have said that your account is automatically cancelled when your number is ported. I guess it wouldn't hurt to call and cancel for peace-of-mind.

Awesome, thively. I assume that your port went smoothly and without interuption of service as you added no extra remarks to that effect.thively wrote:My port completed today as scheduled.
Re: Porting - average time?
No problem. Never noticed it happened. Just got an email that my account log in was changed (from temp number to ported number) and when I checked, Ooma was on the ported number.
Re: Porting - average time?
After the port, my AT&T line still works. I can place outgoing calls but just can't receive (because, of course, it has no phone number as it was ported away.)dlong wrote:Mine ported today as well. I'm not sure if AT&T will automatically disconnect it or not, but under the circumstances I think it's necessary to call and cancel, or get a new number for that line. Since I got Ooma to get rid of my AT&T phone bill, well canceling is of course what I'll be doing

I had the exact same timing, except I submitted my request on 3/9.thively wrote:03/12/09 - Submitted port request by email with attached LOA and Phone Bill. Received immediate auto response email "This email is to acknowledge that we've received your request and will be initiating the porting process. We will notify you via email once we receive an expected due date of your port completion, or if we need any additional information. You should hear back from us with an update typically within 5-7 business days from receiving this email."
03/20/09 - Received Email "We have submitted all of the information you provided to your current Carrier and are still awaiting confirmation. The expected due date of the order is the week of 04/06/2009."
04/01/09 - Received Email "The expected completion date of your request is scheduled for 04/06/2009."
04/06/09 - Port completed as scheduled!
About 3.5 weeks from request to finish.
I'm porting from AT&T land line (POTS)
