I wonder if our Ooma devices have an login IP as every network devices should has? (192.168.x.x)
Also, does anyone know what is the USB port on the back of the hub for? I assume it is hub flashing/firmware upgrade port. However, there is no firmware section in Ooma website.

It's 172.27.35.1 or setup.ooma.com

You need to be behind the hub's home port for it to work.

thanks for the speedy reply. I connected my laptop to Home port Ooma hub and typping setup.ooma.com and could get into the Ooma setup page. However, non of the buttons under Navigation seem to work. When I click one button on the left it shows "The internet explorer cannot display to web page".
What's wrong with that?

Someone else had this same problem and it was their anti virus program or a firewall on the pc blocking it.

Thanks to Bobby (and everyone else who pitched in). Problem solved.

Bobby walked me through a trace, which proved that the Hub was correctly sending the data to my laptop. So, Bobby suggested that it must be anti-virus software or firewall that is common to both of my laptops. As it ends up, I have Kaspersky Anti Virus installed on both machines. I disabled it and BINGO.

Now I just need to figure out how to make Kaspersky "trust" setup.ooma.com. So far I've tried adding it to the "trusted sites" list which didn't work.
Taken from that post.

Homeless,

Do you get the same problem when using the IP address? I get your results when just going to setup.ooma.com (in fact it takes me to the OpenDNS search page) but it works fine when I enter 172.27.35.1

I use the free version of Grisoft's AVG.

Oh NO, do not disable your firewall or antivirus. Try to add the ip address to your firewall trust zone.

I agree with Tommies - I still run my firewall and my AVG antivirus - the only difference is that I access the hub using the http://172.27.35.1 address instead of http://setup.ooma.com . I did not have to make any adjustments to my firewall using the direct IP address.

I have my Ooma hub connected to my router (192.168.1.1). The WAN interface of my Ooma is assigned 192.168.1.4, and the LAN interface is 172.27.35.1.

To connect to the Ooma from my laptop which is connected by WiFi to the router, I had to do the following:

a) Place 172.27.35.1 in the DMZ of the Ooma hub - which doesn't matter security-wise, as it is still behind my router.

b) Create a static route in the router's routing tables, setting 192.168.1.4 as the gateway to reach 172.27.35.1

With this setup, I can reach the Ooma either as 192.168.1.4 or 172.27.35.1.

If I needed to reach the Ooma when I'm at work (why?), I can do it by port-redirection on the router.
