Do I understand correctly that with the Linx product and a DECT cordless phone (such as Panasonic,) I do NOT need an Ooma HD2 handset to access the 2nd line functionality under my Premier subscription?

Does this configuration work with Linx (I have Premier service):
1. Assign phone number 1 to the telo box. Plug a regular corded phone to the telo box.
2. Assign phone number 2 to Linx. Connect the Linx's phone jack to one of the home phone jacks to distribute Ooma signal to all other phone jacks (I'm already distributing Ooma signal throughout my house). There are both DECT 6.0 and non-DECT 6.0 cordless phones plugged in to the other phone jacks. Note: These are just regular cordless phones, not HD2 or old HD handsets.
3. An incoming call to phone number 1 should only ring the corded phone (that is plugged to the telo box). Similarly, an incoming call to phone number 2 should only ring other phones (behind the Linx device.)
4. Outgoing calls made from the corded phone (which is plugged to the telo box) would use line/phone number 1. Similarly, outgoing calls made from the other phones (behind Linx) would use line/phone number 2.
5. Two simultaneous incoming/outgoing calls can be received/placed.
Bottom line: Does Linx make two "virtual" phone lines work just like 2 separate "physical" lines WITHOUT HD2/HD handsets?

Yes to all except there is no correlation between phone numbers and lines.
The first call, no matter where it is placed from, always uses line 1.
A second call, while line 1 is in use, uses line 2.

No. They pick the number that will be used.
The Telo has two pipes to the server. If neither pipe is in use pipe 1 is always used.
Pipe 2 is only used when pipe 1 is already busy.

**1 **0 just let you choose your outgoing callerid.
Also, remove step 1. Assigning your 2nd number to Linx will do what you want.

I am looking for a way to have my caller id displayed on my TV from the satellite system. Will the Linx be able to connect to my Directv and provide Caller ID?

Yes but so would a phone line from the Telo phone port.
