Double-Flash 3 way conferencing

Has anyone figured out how to use this?

This is what I did, all on a regular handset not an ooma one.

1. Dial a #, wait for party to answer.
2. Press FLASH, I get another ooma dial tone
3. Dial second #, wait for party to answer.

At this point I have initiated 2 calls and both are connected, now i'm trying to join them.
I press flash, it just switches between each call.
I press flash 2x fast, it just switches between each call.
I press flash 2x slower, it just switches between each call.

The latest firmware update stated you could do double-flash for 3 way calling.

Can anyone help here?

Try flash, flash, a bit slower. The way I tested it is by calling myself at work getting into VM where automated voice prompts keep asking me to perform action. When there are double voices, I know I got it right.

I've tried this from multiple phones. I can see the #1 and #2 swapping on the box but never joining the calls doesn't seem to matter how fast or slow I do this.

If I press 1 and 2 together on the telo it joins them as expected, but I keep my telo in the basement.

I really wish the telo had a web interface to control the buttons:) since i mainly do this from my desk.

Any other suggestions?

[EDIT] I am dialing 1800-weather and my cell phone and doing the same test you did, basically i'm trying to hear the weather conferenced to my cell.

HD2 Three way Conferencing Two Inbound Calls.

Setting the Off cradle Menu Screen settings to High helps with this procedure.

The first call is answered normally by pushing the Talk button on the HD2 handset, Line 1 and caller ID information is displayed on the upper screen. The second inbound call comes in, “only one tiny little beep” is heard in the HD2 handset, but the second call Line 2 and caller ID information is displayed on the lower HD2 handset screen. The talk button is pushed and the second call is connected. The first call line 1 information is automatically put on hold and is shown very faintly in the screen background. Line 2 and caller ID information is shown more brightly on the lower screen and is more easily seen.

To start a three way conference call, Options is selected by pushing the Right Soft key. Another menu list opens on the screen and using the Navigation Pad bar, scrolling down to 3-way conference is selected, and then the Right Soft key (or Select Key) is selected again to join the conference.
(Scrolling down and selecting Switch Call will reconnect the first call, placing the second call on hold.)
When both Inbound calls are connected to the conference, both Line 1 and Line 2 are shown more brightly on the screen with caller ID information that can be seen more clearly.

Three Way Conferencing a HD2 Inbound Call to a HD2 Outbound Call.

Select Options after the Inbound call comes in and is answered by pressing the Talk button on HD2 handset.
After selecting Options by pressing the Right Soft key, scroll down to “New call” and press the Select button or the Right Soft key. Line two comes up with a message to Enter phone number or [join] existing call. Enter the outbound number and wait for the outbound call to be dialed. Wait until the outbound call is answered.
To start a three way conference call, Options is selected by pushing the Right Soft key. Another menu list opens on the screen and using the Navigation Pad bar, scrolling down to 3-way conference is selected, and then the Right Soft key (or Select Key) is selected again to join the conference.

As I stated in my original message, I am not using any ooma telo handsets, just normal handsets hence the double-flash feature.

Yes, should work with normal phone...Try the duration of flash press a bit longer as well in addition to pause between flash being longer.

I would describe it as double clicking of mouse played in slow motion 1/3 the speed or 1/4 the speed.

Wow your description was DEAD ON. I got it working, took about 5 attempts but worked. Thanks!

Basically I pressed flash, waited about 1 second, pressed flash again and then it joined.

Info Only: Previously I posted the New HD2 handset conference call procedures so that if someone searches this subject in the future, the can easily find the HD2 conference procedure.

Note: If you use a regular phone with a flash button, the three way conference call connects instantly, with a fast or slow double push of the flash button, the first time, every time.

I tried with 2 regular phones.

one cordless, one corded and both were very finicky to get the double flash working. I did ultimately get the timing right but it wasn't as easy as it should be
